Derrick “The Bulldog” Burnsed won the IFC 4-man Welterweight tournament on March 27, 2009 at the Gold Country Casino in Oroville, CA.
Derrick defeated Jack Montgomery of Carson City, NV with a vicious right hand in the first round of their scheduled 3 rounds. Derrick was able to defend a very game Montgomery on the floor and when Burnsed scrambled back to his feet, the right hand proved to be the great equalizer as Montgomery ended up waking up looking at the lights.
Burnsed was scheduled to face Josh McDonald of the Fairtex/Castillo camp but he was unable to continue after his tough first fight 3-round decision. Burnsed was able to defend his alternate opponents tough left hand and wrestling on his way to a very decisive first round submission.
